Sports Illustrated's Peter King takes a look at Seahawks QB competition
"It's hard not to be impressed with rookie Seattle QB Russell Wilson," Peter King wrote.
He got a ground-level view of Seattle's quarterback competition on Sunday afternoon, and he came away with two conclusions:
• If he was a betting man ordered to place a wager on who would start for Seattle in Week 1, he would place that bet on Matt Flynn.
• Russell Wilson is more than window dressing in this competition: "The vibe I got here Sunday is that Wilson has a legitimate shot to win the starting job," King wrote.
The quarterback competition has been a carousel so far with Tarvaris Jackson taking the majority of the repetitions on Saturday, Flynn getting his turn Sunday and Wilson getting first-unit work on Monday.
James Carpenter is on the Physically Unable to Perform list as he recovers from a serious knee injury. He has begun running, but no one is expecting him to be ready when the regular season starts. When he comes back, though, he's going to be a guard. The Seahawks had left his future position up in the air, but coach Pete Carroll and general manager John Schneider both stated that position move in separate radio interviews as Carroll was on the air with 710 ESPN Seattle and Schneider with KJR Sports Radio. They were even on the air at the same time. All that was missing was musical instruments and they could have been dueling banjos.
