Offseason arrests aren't only July setback for NFL teams
No news is good news these days in the NFL.
That's true when it comes to the police blotter after three NFL players were arrested for DUI in the last week alone, including Seattle's Marshawn Lynch.
There's also injuries, and over the weekend, former Seahawk
Lofa Tatupu suffered a pectoral injury during a workout with the Falcons. He is scheduled to see a specialist in Alabama on Monday.
Tatupu suffered a torn pectoral muscle in 2009, which kept him out of the final 10 games of the season. He was released by Seattle last year early in training camp and did not play for another team. He signed with Atlanta this offseason where he was going to compete for the starting spot at middle linebacker.
Before teams adjourn in the month and a half before training camp, coaches usually warn their players to protect the investment they've made in the offseason conditioning. To stay in shape and to stay out of trouble.
And sometimes, despite everyone's best efforts, "stuff" happens, and a setback isn't always due to a poor decision or a legal scrape. Sometimes, a player is simply working out when he suffers an injury that could linger into training camp and beyond.
The only good news this time of year? No news (unless it relates to a new contract).
