Six-foot-3 to be more precise. At least those were the specs on cornerback Richard Sherman, whom Wilson tested on one play in Thursday's practice, trying to loft a pass over Sherman to receiver Kris Durham, who is 6-6 and the son of a decathlete.

Sherman came down with the interception, and while this wasn't quite a "Welcome to the NFL" moment for Wilson, it was an indication of the caliber of competition.

"Our DBs are pretty long, tall guys," Wilson said. "So they can make some plays, and they have some extremely good hands. You do figure out where you have to put it. That's what practice is for, trying to figure out, 'Hey, can this guy go up and get it right here?' "

Consider it part of the learning process for Wilson, who took his turn with the Seahawks' first-unit offense for a good chunk of Thursday's practice.

"You kind of have to feel out the game," Wilson said. "Play fast. Play smart. Let it rip."

This week, each of the three quarterbacks competing for the starting job had one day in which he worked largely with the first-unit offense. Tarvaris Jackson was in that spot Tuesday, Matt Flynn on Wednesday and then Wilson on Thursday.

So where do things stand now?

"We'll sit back and make a big evaluation," coach Pete Carroll said. "We have to finalize that in the next two weeks, the end of this week and next week, to see where it comes to this point. I'm really pleased with the way they've worked. They've busted their tails to get their stuff done. They've all been able to run the club. They've all been able to function in the huddle and make their adjustments and changing the plays as they have to, protections and all that. Those are all really good signs."

Wondering about the pecking order? Well, Carroll wasn't providing any clues in that regard.

"It's going to take us until we start playing games, we'll see something happening," Carroll said. "At this point, they're doing everything they can do with the opportunities, and they look good. I can't tell you that there's anything that has happened then we'll stay with the same format going into camp. T-Jack will go first and away we'll go. Other than that, let the games begin. It will be really exciting to see what happens."

Well, how about the format, coach? Will the quarterbacks alternate days with the first-unit offense during training camp as they did during this minicamp?

"I won't make a statement about that yet," Carroll said, "but it's worked out OK to give them an even shot. That's the point is to really make it as evenly competitive as we possibly can, and we've done that to this point. We're evaluating the quarterback we have. We're evaluating the quarterback, and there's no asterisk by it (because) he wasn't with the right guys or any of that. It has all evened out very well by the coaches."
