Serenity escapes Ryan Leaf in his hometown
By Danny O'Neil | The Seattle Times
Ryan Leaf is a former Seahawk only in the strictest sense.
He signed with the team in 2002. He even appeared in a press conference, but he did not report to training camp that year, instead choosing to retire instead of playing for his fourth franchise in five years.
When Leaf was arrested twice in a single week in his hometown of Montana, it was perhaps the most disappointing news in a life that has already been filled with too much of that. He wasn't a football star anymore. He was a guy who seemed to be getting by in his hometown, who had said he had come to a sense of peace with himself after admitting to a prescription-pill addiction four years ago.
Leaf's actions in the past couple of weeks show someone whose life was spiraling out of control.
