Seahawks WR Mike Williams: 'I've just got to try and get out of this rut'
Posted by Danny O'Neil
Mike Williams had an out.
He could have written off his absence for much of the second half to a shoulder injury. That's what coach Pete Carroll mentioned to explain the fact that Seattle went with the trio of Golden Tate, Ben Obomanu and Doug Baldwin for much of the second half.
Williams wasn't going to write off his first half that easily.
"I wasn't playing good anyway so I don't think it mattered if I was healthy or not," Williams said.
He dropped two passes. Neither was an easy catch as one was a back shoulder throw that required him to wait and turn to grab the ball, the other was a pass-interference penalty against Josh Wilson. Both balls hit Williams in the hands, though. Both of them.
It was a frustrating day in what has been a frustrating year for the receiver who led Seattle with 65 catches last season.
"This whole year has kind of been just not what I've been accustomed to," Williams said, "not what I planned for myself in the beginning. So I've just got to try and get out of this rut and get my rhythm back, but today there were some plays, an opportunity for me to have a big game, it just didn't work out."
