Flag football: Rising tide of Seahawks' penalties
Posted by Danny O'Neil
NFL PENALTY LEADERS | |||
| TEAM | TEAM | PENALTIES | YARDS |
| 1. | Oakland | 69 | 600 |
| 2. | Carolina | 65 | 560 |
| 3. | Detroit | 61 | 520 |
| 4. | Seattle | 60 | 435 |
| 5. | Tampa Bay | 59 | 493 |
The Seahawks have traditionally been one of hte league's least-penalized teams. They were called for the fewest fouls in the league in 2007 and in 2004 and tied for second-fewest in 2005.
That has changed this season. Seattle was the 11th-most penalized team in the league in 2010, Pete Carroll's first-year as coach when the Seahawks were penalized 101 times. This season, Seattle is rising in a category that no one wants to lead the league in. Well, no one but the Raiders that is.
