Walter Thurmond lost for the year with broken leg
Posted by Danny O'Neil
The injury was to Thurmond's fibula, and coach Pete Carroll said after the game Thurmond is lost for the year.
Thurmond, a second-year corner, was starting in place of Marcus Trufant, who was placed on injured reserve earlier this week because of a back injury.
Rookie Richard Sherman replaced Thurmond at left cornerback in the second half with Kennard Cox coming in as the fifth defensive back in the nickel defense. Seattle can activate cornerback Roy Lewis off the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list before its next game.
The Seahawks did not have running back Marshawn Lynch available for the game as he suffered back spasms following his warm-up before the game.
"Through the warm-up process, his back spasmed up on him," Carroll said. "He couldn't get loose. He has had an ongoing something-or-other with his back since he arrived with us, but today it just came up right before game time, and he just couldn't get loose, couldn't get going."
Lynch was in uniform with his helmet on the sideline to begin the first quarter, but never entered the game.
He remained in uniform at the start of the third quarter, and Carroll indicated there was some consideration to getting him in the game.
"He was about ready to take a shot about going after it," Carroll said. "He just had sat too long so we didn't have his services today."
