Quarterback Tarvaris Jackson out for Sunday's game
Posted by Danny O'Neil
Charlie Whitehurst will get his first start of the season at quarterback, the third of his career. Whitehurst played well two weeks ago in New York after replacing Jackson for the final 24 minutes of the game.
Jackson was listed as doubtful after he was limited in practice all week. He warmed up on the field, and appeared to be throwing well. He started out with 30-yard passes, and later was putting some zip on the ball. About two hours before game time, coach Pete Carroll and general manager John Schneider conferred with Jackson during warm-ups.
But when the team turned in its active roster 90 minutes before the game, Jackson was among the seven players designated as inactive, which means he will not be in uniform. Josh Portis is the No. 2 quarterback for the Seahawks.
Tight end Zach Miller is out, replaced in the starting lineup by Anthony McCoy. Center Max Unger is also out because of a foot injury. Lemuel Jeanpierre will start at center in Unger's place.
