Quarterback Tarvaris Jackson prognosis uncertain
Posted by Danny O'Neil
RENTON -- The bye is a time for teams to recover.
The Seahawks have plenty of recovering to do, and that starts at quarterback.
Starter Tarvaris Jackson will not practice this week after suffering a strained pectoral muscle in the third-quarter of Sunday's game. Jackson was injured on a spread-option play. Coach Pete Carroll didn't rule out the possibility Jackson could be back for Seattle's next game, which is Oct. 23 at Cleveland, there was nothing the coach said to indicate he will be either.
• QB Tarvaris Jackson | Strained pec
Status: Underwent a magnetic-resonance image (MRI) test on Monday, and was evaluated with a high-grade strain. He is not expected to work with the team during its two practices during the bye week.
Coach Pete Carroll says: "We just have to wait and see. He had an MRI, and it showed that there some stuff there, and we just have to see how it responds. He didn't rehab today. He felt better today than he did yesterday, but we don't know. We won't know for a while."
• TE Zach Miller | Neck
Status: Miller underwent tests on Monday after suffering the injury Sunday. There was stiffness in his neck.
Carroll says: "He got hit in the head and had a sore neck this morning so we took a look at that. We don't have the results of that."
• LB Leroy Hill | Hamstring
Status: A mild strain that likely means he'll be out of practice this week, but should be available for the game at Cleveland.
• LB Jameson Konz | Knee
Status: Konz suffered an injury to his anterior-cruciate ligament, which will require surgery and means Konz is out for the year.
• RB Marshawn Lynch | Ankle
Status: Turns out it was an ankle that was bothering Lynch on Sunday, and while he rushed for 98 yards -- his most in a regular-season start with the Seahawks -- he is not likely to practice this week.
WR Mike Williams | Concussion
Status: Expected to be cleared to return to the field.
• Marcus Trufant | Back
Status: Missed Sunday's game because of what the coach described as a bruised sacrum. He underwent an MRI test Monday. It is a different injury than the disk problem that kept Trufant out of six games in 2009 and the back spasms he suffered a year ago.
Carroll says: "A very unusual lower-back situation, not one that he has had before. It's different than the issues he had before, but he sustained a bruised sacrum, which is kind of hard to even get to it. That had some impact. He just was all cramped up and he couldn't move at all so we don't know how soon that goes away or what that's going to be like. But he couldn't tie his shoelaces yesterday."
