Seahawks LB Matt McCoy placed on injured reserve
Posted by Danny O'Neil
The Seahawks placed linebacker Matt McCoy on injured reserve Tuesday, thereby ending his season.
McCoy suffered a knee injury during the first play of Seattle's game against Atlanta on Sunday. Coach Pete Carroll indicated that the injury wasn't necessarily season-ending, however, he would miss time.
Tuesday, the Seahawks placed McCoy on injured reserve, ending his season. Seattle signed Jameson Konz from the practice squad to take his place. Konz was a seventh-round draft pick of Seattle in 2010, chosen to play tight end. He moved to defense during training camp this season. His promotion indicates Seattle sees a role for Konz on special teams.
Seattle also signed linebacker David Vobora, who was with the Seahawks during training camp. Fullback Eddie Williams -- who had been with the team that past three games -- was released to make room for Vobora.
McCoy was in his second season with Seattle. He was one of Seattle's core special-teams players and also had a role as a linebacker in the Seahawks' nickel defense.
