By the Numbers; Tarvaris Jackson

Posted by Danny O'Neil

Tarvaris Jackson outplayed the man he replaced in one respect.

The offense scored a touchdown in Jackson's first home start as Seahawks quarterback. That's something Seattle didn't manage 10 years ago in Hasselbeck's first home start for the Seahawks, which took place at Husky Stadium.

But with the performance of Seattle's quarterback being scrutinized so much right now, I thought it was best to put some numbers into the discussion and offer a statistical breakdown of where Jackson ranked among the league's 32 starting quarterbacks this week in terms of passing yardage, quarterback rating and completion percentage. Jackson was in the bottom third of the league's starters in every category though it should be noted that if you throw out his first-half interception -- which occurred on a half-field heave -- Jackson's rating would have been 73.4, which would have ranked No. 22 of the 32 starters.
