Aaron Curry kicking himself over the mistakes

Posted by Danny O'Neil

Linebacker Aaron Curry was as disappointed as anyone that he didn't intercept that pass he had anticipated so well on the first play of the second quarter.

Actually, he was probably more disappointed.

Curry was in perfect position not only to intercept quarterback Ben Roethlisberger's pass -- which was intended for Heath Miller -- only to have the ball bounce off his hands and fall incomplete.

Four plays later, the Steelers scored on a 20-yard run by Isaac Redman to take a 14-0 lead and the route rout was on.

Curry is one of the two linebackers who stay on the field in nickel situations, and he was asked afterward about Pittsburgh's proficiency on third down.

"They took advantage of our mistakes that we made," Curry said. "Not to take anything away from them. Ben, he was on his game. I just think we made some mistakes that really bit us in the butt. I made two crucial mistakes on my own, trying to be instinctive, and really hurt the team.

"They took advantage of it. Some mistakes that I want to learn from. We all make mistakes that we're all go from, and we're going to do whatever it takes to get us out of this hole."
