Robert Gallery, Sidney Rice are uncertain in Week 1
Posted by Danny O'Neil
Neither participated in Seattle's practice Monday, but that's not that telling. Running back Marshawn Lynch and linebacker David Hawthorne didn't practice either. The difference is that coach Pete Carroll said Lynch and Hawthorne will be ready to go. He couldn't make any similar assurances about Gallery, who suffered a sprained knee on Friday.
"He's had a couple good days here," Carroll said of Gallery. "He got a sprained knee, and we're just going to have to see how it goes day to day. We'll watch him carefully. He's hopeful that he can make it back by the weekend. We'll have to wait and see."
Rice has been out for a week now since aggravating a shoulder that has been sore all the way back to his first week of practice with the Seahawks.
"We'll wait later in the week to see what's going on with him," Carroll said.
Receivers Mike Williams (toe) and Ben Obomanu (head) were back at practice. Neither played in Friday's exhibition finale. Williams indicated that he practiced without tape on his toe, which has been a nagging injury in training camp.
With Gallery not practicing, Paul McQuistan is a backup guard, but right tackle James Carpenter also got some work at left guard next to starter Russell Okung.
"You have to develop all the flexibility that you can," Carroll said. "We'll be in a game with seven or eight offensive lineman so guys has to play multiple spots so we did move some guys around today."
