Fullback Michael Robinson re-signs with Seattle
Posted by Danny O'Neil
The Seahawks took the field without a fullback Thursday morning. They won't have to worry about that void for long, though.
Seattle has agreed with Michael Robinson, re-signing the fullback it added eight days before the regular season began in 2010.
Seattle stand up! Glad to be back! Time to win a championship.
Most of Seattle's draft class was present during the workout, too, indicating they had signed contracts. Receiver Kris Durham, safety Mark Legree, cornerback Richard Sherman, cornerback Byron Maxwell, linebacker Malcolm Smith and defensive lineman Pep Levingston were all on the field.
The only rookies missing were tackle James Carpenter, guard John Moffitt and linebacker K.J. Wright, who were Seattle's first three choices in the draft.
From the personnel side, the biggest impression was made by one of the biggest players: Red Bryant. He's back, and from the looks of things, he may not have lost a step.
Bryant suffered a season-ending knee injury in the seventh game last season, and Seattle's defense never really recovered.
He underwent surgery to repair a damaged medial-collateral ligament (MCL), and was back on the field Thursday moving well, and without a brace.
The fact that Seattle's defense was severely affected by the injury to a former fourth-round pick who was playing his first season at defensive end says something about the fragility of the roster. There simply wasn't enough depth. But there was no denying his impact. If Bryant stays healthy -- and that's a legitimate question considering he has undergone two knee surgeries in three NFL seasons -- that would be a significant boost to the Seahawks' defense.
