Playoff prognosis: Seahawks postseason scenarios

Posted by Danny O'Neil

So here are Seattle's playoff possibilities spelled out by decreasing level of difficulty.

Seahawks finish 9-7
Stop laughing. It could happen. It's possible, and if Seattle were to win its final three games, the Seahawks would make the playoffs with significantly fewer jokes made at the NFC West's expense it might be added.

Seahawks finished 8-8
Now, this requires two different categories, one for if the Seahawks' pair of victories included a victory over the St. Louis Ramsand one if it did not.

sea-mark-1-cl.gif If the Seahawks finish 8-8 while beating the St. Louis Rams, Seattle would make the playoffs if:
for-mark-1-cl.gif San Francisco lost at least one of its final three games
and
• St. Louis lost at least one of its other two games, which are against Kansas City and San Francisco.

ram-mark-1-cl.gif St. Louis can not win the division if it loses in Seattle and the Seahawks win at least one other game. Thanks to Ryan from Seattle.

sea-mark-1-cl.gif If the Seahawks beat Atlanta and Tampa Bay but lose to St. Louis, the Seahawks would make the playoffs if:
ram-mark-1-cl.gif St. Louis lost to both Kansas City and San Francisco
and
for-mark-1-cl.gif San Francisco lost either to San Diego or Arizona in addition to beating St. Louis in Week 16.

Seahawks finish 7-9
Seahawks make the playoffs at 7-9 if:
sea-mark-1-cl.gif Seattle beats St. Louis in Week 17. The Seahawks can not reach the playoffs if they lose to the Rams.
ram-mark-1-cl.gif The Rams lose to either Kansas City or San Francisco in addition to losing at Seattle in Week 17.
for-mark-1-cl.gif The 49ers lose at least two of their final three games.
