Colin Cole returns to practice for Seattle

Posted by Danny O'Neil

RENTON -- Seahawks defensive tackle Colin Cole returned to practice Wednesday after missing the past five games because of a high ankle sprain he suffered in the fourth quarter of Seattle's loss at Oakland on Oct. 31.

How long does it feel like he was out?

"You can't really put a number to it," Cole said. "It seems like it has been extremely long time, and I've missed getting out there with the guys, and it has been pretty hard watching the games and watching the teammates and everything, especially knowing that I couldn't help them as I would liked to have. Hopefully, I can help come back and contribute."

Q: Has the direction of the season changed since you came out? How do you feel this season has gone coming back?

Cole: "Well, the season is going pretty good. We definitely have built on what we had last year, and I think that things are going well. Obviously, certain areas kind of had a little bit of falloff, but guys definitely stepped up and did as much as they could to help. Certain things happen, and you've just got to bounce back, you have to keep playing really."

Q: There was never really a good angle on TV on when you got hurt, what happened?

Cole: "You want me to go into detail? All right. I was moving to my right, 3 minutes left in the game. They were on their goal line. Really a needless thing to happen. I was going to my right, and a guy basically to my left -- their right guard -- kind of jumped on the side of my leg. I'll say he jumped on the side of my leg. There's a proper way of cut blocks, and he just took it upon himself to kind of jump on the side of my leg. But there's nothing I can do about that now. The only thing I can do is concentrate on moving forward and trying to help the team with the next few games."

• TE John Carlson returned to practice after missing last week's game because of a hip flexor injury.
