Injury situation: Mike Williams, Chester Pitts
Posted by Danny O'Neil
RENTON -- WR Mike Williams suffered an injury to the bottom of his foot in the second half of Sunday's game, and his status is day-to-day. He was in a plastic protective boot after the game.
"He did something very unusual to his foot," coach Pete Carroll said. "It might not be as serious as we originally thought, but we're going to have to wait and see how he responds."
Williams appeared to suffer a leg injury in the first quarter after his 68-yard reception, but that was an issue of cramping in his hamstring. The injury that knocked him out of the game was entirely different.
"He was running down the field and felt something pop," Carroll said. "It's very unusual. They know exactly what it is. I can't explain it to you, and they've never seen it before. So it's an unusual thing that he's got. Something in the bottom of his foot."
G Chester Pitts also suffered an injury in the game to his left ankle, and his status this week is in doubt. G Mike Gibson is coming back from an ankle injury that rendered him inactive the past two games, but he ran on Monday and thinks he could be ready to play this week. Also, Tyler Polumbus could be a candidate to play some guard as well.
CB Marcus Trufant suffered a concussion when he was kneed in the head while trying to tackle Saints running back Chris Ivory in the first quarter. His status is a question mark, too, as he has suffered a previous concussion.
Carroll also addressed the 15-yard penalty against Raheem Brock for roughing the passer.
"I thought it was a normal football play," Carroll said. "I don't know what was wrong with that play. Timing was just bang-bang, as fast as you can get. It looked like we didn't hear helmet to helmet or any of that kind of stuff. So I don't really know what the explanation is. We'll get that during the week, and anxious to figure that one out because we wouldn't tell the guy to do anything different until we know more."
