Carroll on Hasselbeck: 'We think he'll play'
Posted by Danny O'Neil
"You still have to go through the process to make sure he's all right," Carroll said, "but we think he'll play."
Hasselbeck was sacked eight times Sunday, and he did not finish the game, replaced by Charlie Whitehurst. At the time the switch was made, it seemed something to get the starter out of harm's way in a game that was out of reach.
But Hasselbeck did not answer questions after the game because of injuries.
"He got banged up just kind of in general," Carroll said. "He did get hit in the head, and had some headaches or something like that. So we're just taking care of him, looking after him, making sure he's all right."
Did he suffer a concussion, then?
"I think that's what they're calling it because whenever you get hit in the head, you have to call it something," Carroll said.
Carroll said he saw Hasselbeck on Monday, but did not sit down and talk with his quarterback.
Hasselbeck will have to go through a battery of tests to make sure he has no remaining symptoms before he is cleared to play.
"That's kind of just the way you've got to do it," Carroll said. "So we're going to do all the right things there."
Cornerback Walter Thurmond missed last week's game because symptoms of a concussion had not completely gone away.
| Player | Injury | Prognosis |
| QB Matt Hasselbeck | Concussion | "You still have to go through the process to make sure he's all right, but we think he'll play," coach Pete Carroll said. |
| DE Red Bryant | Right knee | "He's going to be out a while at best and so we'll see how that goes. Doing tests and things like that to figure out what the situation is completely," coach Pete Carroll said. |
| G Ben Hamilton | Concussion | "Had a tough time early, and we got him out of there. Didn't finish the game. Pretty significant," coach Pete Carroll said. |
| WR Mike Williams | Bruised knee | "He got hit on making a block. He was able to finish the game, and wasn't at his best, but was able to get through," coach Pete Carroll said. |
| WR Brandon Stokley | Oblique | "Stokley came through well. He's better off today than he was going into the game, matter of fact. He felt even better. That's a big plus," coach Pete Carroll said. |
| WR Golden Tate | Ankle | "He does have a sprained ankle, and kind of typical medial sprain, could take a bit. We'll have to see how he responds. He's in the boot today so we don't know," coach Pete Carroll said. |
| DT Colin Cole | Ankle | "Ankle sprain that we'll have to wait and see how that one goes," coach Pete Carroll said. |
| OT Tyler Polumbus | Knee | "Slight knee sprain. His recovery is undetermined right now, too," coach Pete Carroll said. |
