Summary of Seattle's draft choices in 2011
Posted by Danny O'Neil
There have been several requests for a summary of the draft picks the Seahawks are currently holding after all the trades that have been made over the previous nine months.
Here's my best accounting so far. Now, if I've missed something, please point it out in the comments and I'll update the chart. It could be like that, "Help me to help you," scene from "Jerry Maguire."
| Round | From | In exchange for | Round | To | Traded for | |
| 5th (Conditional) | Josh Wilson | | | 3rd | Charlie Whitehurst | ||
| 6th | Lawrence Jackson | | | 4th | Marshawn Lynch | ||
| 7th (Conditional) | Seneca Wallace | | | 6th | Kentwan Balmer | ||
| | | 7th | Stacy Andrews | ||||
Now, by my count, Seattle holds one first-round pick, one second-round pick, two fifth-round picks, one sixth-round pick and
A couple of things to remember:
Compensatory draft picks factor into the picks a team ends up with. I don't pretend to be an expert on the way those are awarded. Seattle lost free agents like Cory Redding and Nate Burleson, but it also signed Ben Hamilton and Chester Pitts, who were unrestricted free agents. Those picks aren't awarded until well after the season, but it's just something to keep in mind.
