Say goodbye to Leroy Hill and hello to Craig Terrill
Posted by Percy Allen
Linebacker Leroy Hill (left) was placed on injured reserve, which ends his season before it ever really got started. Coach Pete Carroll said today Hill will require surgery to repair an Achilles injury.
Hill's departure opened a spot on the roster that was filled by defensive tackle Craig Terrill, who was released Sept. 7 before the season.
Terrill, who begins his seventh season, is one of the longest tenured Seahawks. He was drafted in the fifth round by Seattle in 2004.
Terrill joked he's been playing a lot of guitar the past three weeks to keep busy.
"I knew I'd play football (that) I'd be somewhere," he said. "It's a long season and I'm glad I'm back here."
Carroll said Terrill will likely see action Sunday on special teams.
INJURY UPDATE:
--- LB Aaron Curry (hamstring) practiced and is expected to play.
--- DT Brandon Mebane (calf) was limited in practice.
--- CB Marcus Trufant (ankle) did not practice after participating in Thursday's drills. He's a game-time decision.
--- OT Sean Locklear will be ready to play and it sounds as if he's a game-time decision as well.
--- DE Chris Clemons (ankle) practiced ans did WR Mike Williams (shoulder).
O-LINE SHUFFLE:
--- Offensive tackle Tyler Polumbus, who's started three games on the left side, had a "very solid" week filling in for Locklear on the right side and he could start there because rookie Russell Okung looks as if he's ready to make his NFL debut.
"Russell is ready to play," Carroll said. "He did a very good job this week. We'll figure out this weekend how this week effects him and we'll get it all ready for game time to make a decision on that. But he did a terrific job this week. I was really thrilled that he was able to get all of the work that he did. He even took some service team work."
AND FINALLY:
--- Newly signed WR Brandon Stokely is expected to play Sunday, Carroll said.
