Confirmed: Seahawks reach injury settlement with DE Nick Reed

The Seahawks reached an injury settlement with defensive end Nick Reed, according to a report from Jason LaCanfora of NFL.com and the league's television network.
Reed made the team as a rookie last season after being chosen in the seventh round out of Oregon. He had one sack.
Reed underwent knee surgery two weeks ago, and coach Pete Carroll indicated he would be out for a couple of weeks.
Negotiating an injury settlement indicates Seattle was prepared to place him on injured reserve, thereby ending his season. Negotiating an injury settlement would give Reed compensation, but allow him to play elsewhere this season.
Update: The injury settlement has been confirmed, and the expectation is Reed will be prepared to play sooner rather than later. It remains possible he could re-sign with Seattle after the negotiated term of the injury settlement passes.
