Cornerback Josh Wilson (above) practiced with the Seahawks this afternoon while the team finalized a deal that sent him to the Baltimore Ravens for a 2011 draft pick.
ESPN's Adam Schefter broke the story and said Seattle will receive a conditional fifth-round pick.
The Seahawks and Wilson's agent confirmed the trade, but the team said the pick is undisclosed.
Wilson, a Upper Marlboro, Md. native, starred at Maryland before he was taken in the second round of the 2007 draft by Seattle so the trade is a homecoming for the 5-foot-9, 192-pound fourth-year veteran.
He started 12 games in 2008 and 11 in '09 and had six interceptions the past two seasons. He's also been a kick returner the past three seasons.
During the exhibition season, Wilson was competing for the starting right cornerback with Kelly Jennings.
At today's practice, Wilson took reps with the No. 1 defense and yesterday he talked about playing against rookie WR Golden Tate and newcomer Mike Williams.
Trading Wilson likely elevates Jennings into the starting role and it's an indication the Seahawks are pleased with rookie Walter Thurmond. Former Washington Husky Roy Lewis, who is also competing for a roster spot, appears to have a better chance of making the team.
