Lofa Tatupu: In the name of the father
By Danny O'Neil, The Seattle Times

Walter Thurmond is ahead of schedule in his comeback, and while he's still gaining confidence in his injured knee -- not to mention wearing a large brace -- he clearly has quickness. Seattle had a second-round grade on him, disregarding the injury, and the Seahawks see him as a potential starting cornerback in the NFL. That's overly ambitious for his rookie season, but he's someone who's going to contribute this year.

• The Seahawks have been looking at Golden Tate, Justin Forsett and Thurmond in punt-return drills Tuesday. Thurmond had difficulty judging the kicks coming from punter Jon Ryan.

• DT Kevin Vickerson is obviously a strong, imposing presence on the inside, and he made a very noteworthy play earlier this week when he blew up a play in the backfield, colliding with Julius Jones for what would have been a loss. But Vickerson also appears somewhat fragile. Remember, he didn't practice with the team after first being acquired from Tennessee in a trade, and he sat out Thursday's practices, wearing a sleeve on his left leg.

• DE Lawrence Jackson has been limited by an injury, too, and not practicing. That doesn't bode well for him to hold onto a starting position with all the praise being heaped Red Bryant's way.
