Deion Branch will be among those watching this minicamp

Posted by Danny O'Neil

OK, now to start out let's keep in mind the regular season is still four months away, and offseason surgery -- while not a universal occurrence in the NFL -- is not uncommon, either.

So consider those qualifiers before beginning the solemn rite of "The Wringing of Hands and Gnashing of Teeth."

Wide receiver Deion Branch underwent a basic arthroscopic surgery on his knee. He is expected to be one of a number of players who is not participating in the minicamp.

OK. Deep breath everyone. Yes, this would mark the third procedure on the knee Branch injured in the playoff loss at Green Bay. He also underwent an arthroscopic procedure last offseason.

Branch was someone whose performance coach Pete Carroll commented on during the team's three-day minicamp earlier this month.

Branch is not the only veteran who won't be participating in this minicamp, and this is not expected to impact his availability for the season.

Branch has played four seasons in Seattle, missing a total of 15 games.

A tipster first dropped a note Thursday reporting Branch's surgery. The procedure was subsequently confirmed, but by all appearances, this was a very routine procedure not expected to impact his performance this season.
