ESPN draft analyst says Seahawks won't pick Jimmy Clausen

The Seahawks entered the offseason knowing they needed a quarterback of the future, someone that would be a potential successor to Matt Hasselbeck.

The acquisition of Charlie Whitehurst did not rule out the possibility Seattle would choose a quarterback with one of its two first-round picks. At least that's the poker face general manager John Schneider put on when the trade was announced.

Jimmy Clausen of Notre Dame was considered a potential candidate. After all, Pete Carroll first watched the kid play when he was 13, recruited him coming out of high school, and Clausen said that his decision came down to a choice between Notre Dame and USC.

Mel Kiper Jr., ESPN's original draftnik, cited multiple sources saying the Seahawks will not choose Clausen in the upcoming draft. Is that the final word? Not necessarily. But it's something to think about, and here's a sampling of the video highlights that we'll be posting in our lead-up to the draft:
