Seahawks add linebacker Matt McCoy

Posted by Danny O'Neil

Linebacker Matt McCoy signed with the Seahawks, according to the Twitter feed of his agent Orlando Castano. McCoy has played six seasons in the NFL, the past two with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Update 9:11 p.m.: McCoy signed a one-year deal with the Seahawks that includes a signing bonus. Not sure on the size of that bonus. He's expected back in Seattle by Saturday to begin participation in the offseason training program.

McCoy went to Tampa Bay when Monte Kiffin was defensive coordinator. Kiffin is a formative influence on Pete Carroll. Also, McCoy played for Gus Bradley, Tampa Bay's linebackers coach in 2008 who is now in his second year as Seattle's defensive coordinator.
