Afternoon notes: Mays stands out
Posted by Danny O'Neil
I'll be posting a more complete summary, but USC safety Taylor Mays really stood out at the South team's practice on Monday afternoon, which included one hit that drew an audible reaction from the crowd after he prevented a Citadel receiver from coming down with a catch.
Also, Seahawks coach Pete Carroll declined to specify who the Seahawks' new strength-and-conditioning coach will be, but the expectation in NFL and college circles is that it will be Chris Carlisle, who was Carroll's strength-and-conditioning coach at USC. But there is nothing official in that regard, and as I said, Carroll declined to give any indication about whom would fill the position.
Jim Zorn is here in Mobile, Ala., and I will be posting an interview with him later.
