Upon further review: Sunday's replay reversal

Posted by Danny O'Neil

OK, coach Jim Mora, here's an invitation to get yourself in trouble. Have you looked at the replay review of the fumble at the end of the first half? Matt Forte lost control of the football while lunging for a touchdown. David Hawthorne recovered the ball and Seattle was awarded possession on its own 2.

"Yes," Mora said. Well, what were your thoughts about the fact it was overturned?

(Mora takes a sip of water from a bottle.) "Let me take a moment," Mora said. "My wife will get mad at me if I lose money." A quick pause for laughter then Mora continued. "The ruling on the field was fumble. Every replay that I've seen in my eyes is inconclusive and the rule states that if it's inconclusive then the ruling on the field stands, but I have not had all the views that the official making the call had. So he saw it differently than I did. He saw it differently. It was a big play in the game." Have you talked to the league, the director of officiating? "We just sent that in," Mora said. "We just sent that in. But sometimes, I don't even like sending those things in. It's water under the bridge or over the dam. It doesn't matter, and sometimes it upsets you more. I'd rather look at other things in the game that maybe affected the outcome that we could have controlled rather than that someone else could have controlled. That's what we've got to do."
