Receiver Michael Bumpus waived

Posted by Danny O'Neil

Seattle made the final roster move to reach the league limit of 75 players on the roster by releasing Michael Bumpus, the receiver who had been with the team since he was signed as an undrafted free agent from Washington State.

Bumpus' release shows how much the team has deepened its stock of wide receivers. Injuries not only prompted his arrival on the active roster last season, but he started a game and caught a touchdown pass. Now, he was the first to be released from the Seahawks' pool of 10 receivers on the roster.

Bumpus was one of the only receivers from that group with practice-squad eligibility. Logan Payne is also eligible for the practice squad.

Seattle's next round of roster cuts will be made Saturday when teams must trim their rosters to 53 players for the regular season.

Update: Mike Hass, one of the nine receivers remaining in training camp, still has practice-squad eligibility, according to the Seahawks.

  • QB Seneca Wallace (groin), CB Marcus Trufant (PUP, back), WR Logan Payne (undisclosed), CB Travis Fisher (hamstring), S C.J. Wallace (ribs), OL Cory Withrow (undisclosed), C Chris Spencer (quadriceps), LT Walter Jones (knee) and WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh (undisclosed) did not practice.
