Video: Seahawks post-game at Kansas City

For Seattle, the exhibition game was the typical batch of mixed results. The defense gave up too many long runs, but quarterback Matt Hasselbeck looked sharp. Seattle missed three field-goal attempts, had an interception returned for a touchdown and showed moderate improvement in the run game.
Compare that to what Kansas City is feeling. Stomach-turning, knee-wrenching dread that the injury to quarterback Matt Cassel might be something that can sink the season.
The Chiefs stayed mum. Coach Todd Haley was asked about the injuries, but he might as well have had personnel poobah Scott Pioli's hand over his mouth because he didn't say anything about Cassel's status.
For the Seahawks, C.J. Wallace had sore ribs, which kept him out for the second half. Julius Jones bruised a shin, Ray Willis had a sore thigh, but nothing serious.
Edgerrin James did not play, and was not dressed for the game, though he was on the field in uniform for warmups. Coach Jim Mora said James just wanted to see how the Seahawks did things on the field. James is not expected to play Thursday against Oakland, either, and Mora said his Seahawks debut likely will be in the regular-season opener against St. Louis.
Hasselbeck looked sharp again. He completed 19 of 25 passes, and while he had an interception returned for a touchdown, it was also a pass intercepted after it was tipped.
The ground game showed marked improvement when fullback Justin Griffith entered the game in the second quarter. Starting running back Julius Jones carried six times in the first quarter, and only once did he gain more than 3 yards. With Griffith in the game to start the second quarter, Jones popped consecutive 8-yard runs to start the drive.
Kevin Hobbs is playing for a roster spot. He's the fifth cornerback on the roster counting Marcus Trufant, but he gave up a 33-yard reception to Ashley Lelie in the fourth quarter, and also failed to make an open-field tackle of Quinten Lawrence.
