A day when even roll call is an adventure

Posted by Danny O'Neil

RENTON -- Edgerrin James' agent was in the lobby at the Seahawks practice facility when practice began.

James, however, was not out on the field. Neither was running back T.J. Duckett, and the tangled web of what is happening with Seattle's backfield was no clearer when practice ended.

No change to the roster, said a team spokesman.

"I can't really say too much about it," said running back Julius Jones. "I don't know all the details about that ... We'll wait and see, a day or two and it will all work itself out."

There have been multiple reports of an agreement, and one report went so far as to say James was expected to sign on Monday night. That hasn't happened, but it doesn't mean it won't.

Asked in the lobby if a deal was reached, Rosenhaus had no comment.

All signs point to a change in Seattle's backfield, but the roster remained unchanged as of 2:16 p.m.

You don't have to imagine what James would look like in a Seahawks jersey. Take a look at his player profile on NFL.com (a tip of the cap to Aaron Levine of FOX 13 for pointing it out).

  • RB Julius Jones, DE Lawrence Jackson, LB Aaron Curry, WR Nate Burleson, OL Grey Ruegamer all returned to practice.

  • CB Travis Fisher and LB David Hawthorne did not practice. DT Craig Terrill was limited in practice, watching without pads or helmet by the end. He suffered a back contusion in Saturday's game.
