Camp Mora: Day 2, The Evening Edition

Posted by Danny O'Neil

The Seahawks donned shoulder pads for the evening practice, their third workout in two days. RB Justin Forsett put a lick on LB David Hawthorne during one-on-one blitz pick-up drills. It was the kind of hit that makes you stop and take a step back, not just as an observer, but as a blitzer because that's what happened to Hawthorne. Forsett knocked Hawthorne backward into offensive coordinator Greg Knapp, no small feat since Hawthorne's got a reputation for his hitting ability. It's why Lofa Tatupu calls him "The Heater."

S C.J. Wallace also put a pop on TE Joe Newton, but it was a little late in the play and sparked some spirited chirping between the offense and defense. The guidelines for observing practice prohibit quoting players from the field, which prevents a reconstruction of a thoroughly entertaining back-and-forth between safeties Deon Grant and Brian Russell, receiver Nate Burleson and quarterback Matt Hasselbeck.

Personnel performance

  • Three players returned punts during the evening practice: Nate Burleson, Ben Obomanu and T.J. Houshmandzadeh.

  • CB Kevin Hobbs picked off a pass from Matt Hasselbeck intended for Deion Branch.

  • LB D.D. Lewis returned to practice for the evening session, but Walter Jones got the evening off. Defensive end Patrick Kerney continues participation in individual drills only, no contact.
