Seahawks training camp at a glance: Day 4

Meet a Seahawk

Jermaine Kearse

Position: WR

Height, weight: 6-1, 209

College: Washington.

Three questions

How did you get into golf? “I’m a 14 handicap. It actually really started when I was at UW. We had that driving range right there. I just used to go over and get one of their clubs and just hit the ball.”

Do you have a course you play regularly? “I probably play Newcastle the most because during OTAs and workouts, I get done by 12 and you can just go right up the street and play. But some of my favorite courses are Salish Cliffs, Gold Mountain and Chambers Bay.”

What’s your best score at Chambers Bay? “93. The last time I played I shot a 100, though.”

What happened

Still no Marshawn Lynch, whose absence cost him more money on Tuesday than it previously had. But the biggest news was an Achilles tendon injury to backup tight end Anthony McCoy on a day when ESPN aired the Seahawks practice live. Coach Pete Carroll said the “early indications” are that McCoy’s injury is serious, and it sounds like he could be out for a long time. McCoy missed all of last season with an Achilles injury, but Carroll said McCoy injured his other Achilles on Tuesday.

Play of the day

Pick from any number of deep catches by receiver Paul Richardson, who showed off his speed once again by getting behind some of Seattle’s defensive backs.

Injury report

Offensive lineman James Carpenter’s calf tightened up during practice and he didn’t participate in the team drills on Tuesday. Linebacker Bobby Wagner had a hamstring tighten up, Carroll said. Wagner also sat for part of practice. Linebacker Kevin Pierre-Louis didn’t practice because of an oblique injury but Carroll said it wasn’t serious. Wide receiver Kevin Norwood (sore foot) should return to practice on Wednesday or Thursday, Carroll said. Linebacker O’Brien Schofield got a rest day on Tuesday. The Seahawks placed wide receiver Taylor Price on injured reserve because Carroll said Price needs more time to get healthy. Price has previously battled a number of injuries the last few seasons.

Attendance 2,540

Seahawks will practice again at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday.
