Key players: Seven Seahawks, seven Broncos to watch

A look at seven players on each team who could play key roles in Sunday’s Super Bowl.

QB Peyton Manning: Had record-setting year (5,477 yards, 55 TDs); hasn’t been sacked in two playoff games.

RB Knowshon Moreno: Ran for 1,038 yards during season, 141 in playoffs, but comes into Super Bowl with sore ribs.

WR Demaryius Thomas: Caught 92 passes, 14 for touchdowns during regular season.

TE Julius Thomas: Former Portland State basketball player has caught 14 passes in two playoff games.

DE Shaun Phillips: Veteran led Broncos with 10 sacks in first season in Denver after nine with Chargers.

DT Terrance Knighton: Also in first year with Broncos (after four with Jaguars), 335-pounder was dominant in AFC title game.

LB Danny Trevathan: The second-year player was by far the Broncos’ leading tackler in his first season as a starter.

CB Richard Sherman: Plenty has been said about him, but the fact remains the third-year defensive back led the NFL with eight interceptions this season.

FS Earl Thomas: Fourth-year player led the Seahawks in solo tackles with 78 and had five interceptions.

WR Golden Tate: Fourth-year player led the team in catches (64) and receiving yards (898) in the regular season.

QB Russell Wilson: Has only one touchdown pass in the playoffs, but has not thrown an interception in two postseason games.

RB Marshawn Lynch: After averaging 4.2 yards per carry during the regular season, Lynch has averaged 5 yards in the postseason.

SS Kam Chancellor: After he set the tone early in the Dec. 15 game at MetLife Stadium, a Giants player said: “That’s a grown man out there.”

CB Byron Maxwell: Intercepted two passes in the Seahawks’ 23-0 December victory over the Giants at MetLife Stadium.
