RENTON — The Seahawks’ success this season has drawn attention to the team’s assistant coaches.

The Vikings reportedly have asked to interview defensive coordinator Dan Quinn and offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell for their head coaching vacancy. The Browns also have asked to interview Quinn, according to reports.

When asked if Quinn would interview this week, coach Pete Carroll said, “I don’t know when that will take place, but if that’s going to happen we would encourage that to happen this week.”

Carroll later added, “I’m not trying to kick anybody out of here. I just want to give them the chance to be the best they can be. And then I also know that that word is out, so if somebody wants to get some place we’ll help them any way we can and make this an attractive place. I couldn’t be more fired up if he has opportunities … when we’re done playing.”

Quinn is in his first year as Seattle’s defensive coordinator. The Seahawks finished first in the league in points allowed, yards allowed, passing yards allowed and turnovers forced under his watch.

“He’s got a tremendous background in the game,” Carroll said. “He’s got great character about the game. He’s a great communicator. He’s tough. He knows what he wants. Just look at how well he’s transitioned to taking stuff over so quickly.”

Bevell went through this process a year ago, when he was a finalist for the Bears job. He also interviewed with the Cardinals and Jaguars last season.

Notes

• Carroll said Brandon Mebane (groin), Richard Sherman (hip), Jeremy Lane (shoulder) and Jermaine Kearse (ankle) should be ready to practice Thursday. Carroll said tight end Luke Willson (ankle) was questionable to return to practice this week.

• Linebacker K.J. Wright (foot) could return to practice next week, although Carroll immediately added, “that’s really, really optimistic.”

• With all the news about coaches being let go, Carroll was asked if anything had changed with his contract situation. He has one year left on a deal that pays him $7 million per season. He said, “I’m in great shape.”

• The Seahawks will be off Tuesday and Wednesday before returning to practice Thursday and Friday.
