The Giants, Super Bowl champs two years ago, appear headed to their worst season in a decade, at 5-8 and already eliminated from the playoffs. New York got off to a horrid start, losing its first six games as Eli Manning threw 15 interceptions.

Manning has curtailed the picks of late, and the Giants won five of six to briefly revive playoff hopes. But a 37-14 loss last week at San Diego, in which the Giants fell behind 24-0 at halftime, sealed their fate.

The lost season is leading to speculation that 67-year old coach Tom Coughlin, who led the Giants to two Super Bowl victories, won’t be back next season.
