Stat geek: Seahawks, by the numbers
A look at the Seahawks’ numbers from their season-opening victory at Carolina.
Simply watching Seattle’s 12-7 season-opening win over Carolina made it evident the Seahawks struggled at times up front.
Stats from Pro Football Focus reinforced that assessment. According to PFF, the Panthers brought extra pressure only 10 times all day, yet were able to get pressure on the quarterback on 38 percent of pass attempts.
PFF also revealed that running back Marshawn Lynch had almost nowhere to run, gaining less than 0.8 yards per attempt before being contacted by a defender.
Seattle won thanks to a career-high 320 passing yards from Russell Wilson. Wilson finished with a rating of 115.7, completing 25 of 33 passes overall. But according to PFF his rating was 142.6 on play-action passes, completing 11 of 14 passes for 182 yards and a touchdown.
