What happened

The Seahawks practiced without pads for roughly two hours under cloudy skies at the Virginia Mason Athletic Center. It was the seventh practice of training camp.

The big story

As it has been throughout camp, the main news of the day concerned WR Percy Harvin, who had surgery on his hip in New York. Coach Pete Carroll said the surgery “went very well’’ and that the team is hopeful he can return to action this season. He said, “we don’t have any dates or timelines or any of that kind of stuff. But we are going to be very optimistic and hope he gets back as soon as possible.’’

Play of the day

Second-year WR Jermaine Kearse continues to be a standout and turned in another highlight-reel play with an over-the-shoulder catch as he fell to the ground on a deep pass from Russell Wilson during a team drill.

Injury report

Seattle had 20 players sidelined for all or part of practice Thursday, including the six who have been out all camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list. Carroll, though, said most are out with minor injuries and all but Harvin could be available for the start of the season. Among those sitting out is MLB Bobby Wagner, sidelined the past two days with a sore shoulder. But Carroll said he could be back soon.

Attendance 2,850

Seahawks will practice at 1 p.m. Friday at the VMAC. The practice will include a “mock game’’ and is open to the public, but spots are sold out.
