At least Jaguars can be proud of their $3 million locker room
New owner out to change team's image
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Jaguars have one victory, the lowest-ranked offense and one of the worst run defenses in the NFL.
But they do have wenge-wood lockers and backlighted mirrors.
The Jaguars, who use tarps to cover empty stadium seats, spent more than $3 million to construct the NFL's most luxurious locker room.
In the most visible attempt to overhaul their image — and they hope, their fortunes — under new owner Shahid Khan, the Jaguars have embraced their inner interior designer, replete with two waterfalls that splash into plunge pools, Euro-style toilets inside individual private stalls and leather chairs custom-built extra wide to accommodate even the heftiest linemen.
"It's first class, just to show that's how he does things," said Khan's son, Tony, who is also a team executive. "It's the best locker room in the NFL. He wants this to be the best organization in the NFL."
NOTES
• The Packers have activated defensive end Mike Neal, who was suspended four weeks for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing drugs.
• Browns wide receivers Mohamed Massaquoi and Travis Benjamin will miss the game against the Giants because of hamstring injuries.
• Jets tight end Dustin Keller, wide receiver Stephen Hill, nose tackle Sione Po'uha and fullback John Conner are all doubtful for New York's game Monday.
• The Colts are promoting offensive tackle Tony Hills from the practice squad to the active roster. To make room for Hills, the Colts waived receiver Kris Adams.
