Stars of the game

• Chris Clemons had four sacks, matching Seattle's franchise record that is shared by Jacob Green, Michael Sinclair and Michael McCrary.

• Golden Tate scored both of Seattle's touchdowns, with a 41-yard scoring catch in the second quarter and a 24-yard reception on the game's final play.

Play of the game

Well, other than the final play, you mean? ... The Seahawks were measured and restrained for most of the first half. Their first four possessions resulted in four punts, and Russell Wilson had not completed a pass longer than 14 yards. But in the second quarter, on first down from the Green Bay 41, Wilson dropped back to pass and had plenty of time. He waited patiently for Tate to get free behind the defense for Seattle's longest play of the season.

Turning point

It all came down to the final play, a pass lofted by Wilson into the end zone. In a scrum of several players, Tate went up for the ball and came down with it, according to the officials.

Seahawks surprises

• The Seahawks — who never had more than five sacks in any game last season — totaled eight in the first half alone. That was the second-highest first-half total in NFL history. The Giants had 10 first-half sacks against the Bears in 2010.

• Seattle's third-quarter offensive total: minus-1 yard. Wilson didn't even attempt a pass, though he was sacked and Seattle faced an impossibly long third-and-37 after a penalty.

By the numbers

87 yards Green Bay's offense gained in the first half.

60 yards Green Bay gained on its first drive of the third quarter, driving to a field goal.

0 passes Wilson attempted in the third quarter.

-1 yards of offense Seattle gained in the third quarter.
