Players of the game

• Seattle running back Marshawn Lynch rushed for 122 yards, 100 of those in the second half. The Cowboys' defense has allowed an opponent to rush for 100 yards just five times in their past 21 regular-season games, and Lynch is responsible for two of those.

Anthony McCoy caught five passes for 41 yards — both team-highs — and scored on a 22-yard pass. It was the first touchdown pass caught by a Seahawks TE in more than a year.

Play of the game

Seahawks linebacker Malcolm Smith came off the edge and blocked Dallas' first punt attempt, with the ball bouncing to safety Jeron Johnson, who returned it 3 yards for a touchdown.

Turning point

Lynch's 36-yard run in the middle of the third quarter was not only the longest play for either team, but it was the tipping point for Seattle's offense. Seattle started that possession leading by six at its 10-yard line, and the Seahawks proceeded to run the ball on five of the first six plays of the drive. The last of those five was Lynch's 36-yard run. Seattle scored two plays later and never looked back.

Seahawks surprises

The Seahawks beat the Cowboys by 20 points, their largest margin of victory at home since beating San Francisco 31-6 in the 2010 season opener.

Seattle held Dallas to 86 yards of offense in the second half, 51 of those coming on the Cowboys' final three plays.

By the numbers

113 Minutes Seattle played this season before scoring its first rushing touchdown.

3 Scoring drives of longer than 50 yards for the Seahawks, who didn't have a scoring drive longer than 33 yards in Week 1.

3 Possessions Dallas started outside its own 20-yard line.

2 Possessions Seattle started on Dallas' half of the field.

Injuries

Seahawks — CB Byron Maxwell suffered a first-half hamstring injury that knocked him out of the game. WR Sidney Rice did not play after he was hit going over the middle in the second half, but coach Pete Carroll said he was not among the players injured.

They said it

"Obviously you want to be more physical. You want to physically dominate them. In this game, we certainly didn't do that." — Dallas coach Jason Garrett.
