NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Jake Locker finally makes his first NFL start Friday night against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and he's definitely looking forward to something he expects to be a lot of fun.

The Tennessee Titans just hope he plays well enough to make take the decision on their starting quarterback out of their hands.

"We're running out of time," coach Mike Munchak said. "It's funny how we talked about it back in April or May, saying, 'Well, geez, we've got three or four months,' and now the season's getting close. I think we feel good about it. I think we'll make that decision around next weekend, a couple days after this game."

Munchak opened the competition in January between Locker, the eighth pick overall in 2011 out of Washington, and veteran Matt Hasselbeck, who led Tennessee to a 9-7 record last season after leaving Seattle.

Exhibition games

Browns 35, at Packers 10

Rookie quarterback Brandon Weeden showed improvement in his second exhibition game, avoiding major mistakes as Cleveland beat Green Bay.

Aaron Rodgers looked sharp in limited action, but backup quarterback Graham Harrell was shaky for the Packers.

Bengals 24, at Falcons 19

Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton and the Atlanta's Matt Ryan each directed two scoring drives before Cincinnati's reserves held on to win. Ryan finished 18 of 21 for 174 yards and one touchdown. Dalton was 8 of 14 for 125 yards and one TD.

Bengals tight end Jermaine Gresham injured his right knee in the first quarter, but coach Marvin Lewis said after the game that Gresham "will be fine."

• The Houston Texans signed left tackle Duane Brown to a six-year contract worth $53.4 million, with $22.08 million guaranteed.

• The NFL suspended San Diego Chargers defensive tackle Garrett Brown for the team's first four regular-season games for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing substances.

• Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher, who underwent an arthroscopic procedure on his left knee, said he expects to be ready for the season opener.

• New York Giants defensive tackle Shaun Rogers will miss the season because of a blood clot in his left calf.

• The NFL provided a federal judge in New Orleans with what it said is evidence commissioner Roger Goodell did not improperly prejudge the four players suspended in the bounty investigation.
