RENTON — Nate Robinson was at Seahawks practice Saturday morning.
Considering Robinson's athletic pedigree, that statement requires a further clarification: Robinson was not in the Seahawks' practice.
The Rainier Beach alum was in sweatpants and a gray top, watching the workouts. There are no plans for Robinson to have a tryout with the Seahawks, but this is the latest in a continuing flirtation with the sport.
Robinson, 27, initially went to Washington on a football scholarship and was a freshman cornerback under Rick Neuheisel in 2002. He switched to basketball after that season, became a first-round pick in the NBA and has played the past six seasons in the league. He is currently a member of the Oklahoma City Thunder. The NBA players are currently locked out and Robinson would be risking his multimillion guaranteed contract were he to be injured playing football.
Robinson broached the possibility of playing football during the lockout in an interview with SLAM magazine. Last week, he took to Twitter to ask Seahawks coach Pete Carroll for a tryout. Then came his appearance at Saturday's practice, where he had a cameraman documenting his presence.
