Seahawks claim receiver Isaiah Stanback off waivers from New England
Receiver Isaiah Stanback, a Garfield High School graduate and former Washington Huskies quarterback, was claimed by the Seahawks on Tuesday.

Isaiah Stanback is returning to Seattle, faced with a challenge that any wide receiver can appreciate.
He's got to get his hands around this chance and hold on.
The Seahawks claimed Stanback on waivers from the New England Patriots on Tuesday, adding the former Washington quarterback to the roster as a receiver. That is one of the most stocked positions on the team as Stanback becomes the 16th wide receiver among the 80 players under contract.
The Cowboys drafted Stanback, choosing him in the fourth round in 2007. He played two seasons for the Cowboys as receiver and kick returner. Dallas waived him last year before the regular season began.
The Patriots claimed him, playing Stanback at quarterback on the practice squad the first two months of the season. He was promoted to the active roster as a receiver and caught three passes in 2009.
Stanback attended Garfield High School before playing four seasons at Washington. Stanback spent a chunk of Tuesday afternoon telling friends and family that his next NFL opportunity would come in his old backyard.
"It feels great to be coming home, knowing all the people I've got behind me," he said in a telephone interview. "Kind of like a new start."
Stanback has played in 16 games in three NFL seasons, catching five passes.
He adds depth at what will be one of the more competitive positions on the team.
The Seahawks return T.J. Houshmandzadeh, Deion Branch, Deon Butler, Mike Hass and Ben Obomanu from last season's team. They drafted Golden Tate, signed special-teams ace Sean Morey and have several veterans playing for a spot, including Mike Williams, who has looked excellent during offseason workouts.
Notes
• Rookie tight end Anthony McCoy signed a multiyear contract, the Seahawks announced. McCoy, a sixth-round choice from USC, is the first of Seattle's nine draft picks to sign.
• Seattle waived DT Demarcus Granger last week, letting go the undrafted free agent from Oklahoma who had signed on April 24.
