Washington should break NFL draft drought Friday
Washington linebacker Donald Butler has been projected as high as a second-round choice in the NFL draft. His selection Friday would end nearly three years without a Huskies player being selected.
Seattle Times staff reporter
Washington hasn't had a player picked in the NFL draft in almost three years. The wait might end Friday with the second and third rounds of the NFL draft.
Linebacker Donald Butler has been projected as high as a second-round choice, though the late third round is probably more realistic. He would be the first Washington player drafted since 2007, when Isaiah Stanback and Dashon Goldson were chosen in the fourth round.
Defensive end Daniel Teo-Nesheim is also a draft candidate.
The Huskies haven't had a player drafted in the first round since 2004, when receiver Reggie Williams was chosen No. 9 overall by Jacksonville.
No Washington State players are expected to be drafted, although center Kenny Alfred is expected to have a chance to sign as an undrafted free agent.
