Blocking is Leonard Weaver's job, does OT with two TDs

SAN FRANCISCO — Leonard Weaver emerged from the Seahawks' locker room at Candlestick Park nattily attired, complete with shiny white dress shoes.
"I always try to be dressed for success," Weaver said. "That's what it's all about."
Was it the shoes? Who knows. But something was working in Weaver's favor Sunday after his dream game of two touchdown catches, one of 43 yards and one of 62, in the Seahawks' 34-13 victory over the 49ers.
Weaver, a fourth-year fullback, is a humble guy. He's an ordained minister who is fond of singing gospel and Christian rhythm and blues. And he happens to pack a vicious stiff-arm once known as The Baptism.
No need for that stiff-arm Sunday. Weaver used his speed — pretty good for a 242-pound fullback — to outrun 49ers defenders on his touchdowns. He also made sure to acknowledge — in true Weaver fashion — the blocking from wide receiver Koren Robinson that helped him score.
On the first one, Weaver reached back for the pass from Seneca Wallace and turned upfield, beating 49ers linebacker Takeo Spikes to the corner and outrunning linebacker Patrick Willis and safety Michael Lewis to the end zone.
Weaver caught the ball at the 40 and took it the distance.
"I figured if I could just use my speed to split those guys, then it could happen," Weaver said, "and that's what ended up happening."
Lest Weaver think that he'll be moved to his college position, tight end, or somewhere else where he can get the ball on a more regular basis, he was quick to point out that blocking is still his No. 1 job.
"Coach Holmgren lets me know that every day," Weaver said.
"He does the dirty work," Holmgren said. "When those guys that are unselfish get a chance to touch the ball and have some fun, I feel that much better. When he does get a chance, it doesn't surprise me, really."
The second touchdown saw Weaver wide open in the flat on the left side, and after making the catch, Robinson delivered a punishing block and Weaver scooted down the sideline untouched.
Weaver said he couldn't remember ever catching two touchdown passes in one game. But his teammates knew Weaver had it in him.
"He did a good job of making guys miss and picked up a good block from Koren [Robinson] on the second one," wide receiver Bobby Engram said.
