Mike Holmgren came to the Seahawks in January 1999 as the team's coach and general manager. He was forced to give up the GM role after the 2002 season to concentrate on coaching. Here's a look at what the Seahawks did in the draft under Holmgren's guidance:

1999

Comment: Not a great start for Mike Holmgren, the GM. Biggest contribution from this group probably came from kick returner Charlie Rogers, who was taken by Houston in the 2002 expanison draft. Lamar King never played up to first-round status.

*On active roster, but didn't play.

Players in bold are still with team.

2000

Comment: Seahawks traded Joey Galloway to Dallas for first-rounders in 2000 and 2001, and used the first one to take Shaun Alexander. Chris McIntosh and Ike Charlton were bad picks, but Darrell Jackson proved to be a third-round steal and Isaiah Kacyvenski was a special-teams standout.

2001

Comment: The Seahawks went into the draft with the No. 7 and 10 picks in the first round. They traded No. 7 to the 49ers for No. 9 and two later picks, and ended up with Koren Robinson, Heath Evans and Dennis Norman. Then they traded the No. 10 overall pick plus a third-rounder to Green Bay for Matt Hasselbeck and the No. 17 pick, using it to take Steve Hutchinson. It's hard to imagine a Super Bowl trip without that deal.

2002

Comment: Well, that trading-down-with-Green-Bay thing doesn't always work. The Seahawks traded the No. 20 pick and their fifth rounder to the Packers for No. 28 and a second-round pick in Holmgren's final draft as GM. The Seahawks used the first pick on Jerramy Stevens, and we all know how that turned out. The second-rounder was wasted on Anton Palepoi. They did get Maurice Morris in the second round, and Rocky Bernard in the fifth, though.
