Seattle comic artists and authors, plus William Shatner and Rainn Wilson, descend on Emerald City Comicon
Posted by Tiffany Campbell
Emerald City Comicon starts today at the Washington State Convention and Trade Center in downtown Seattle. If you want to see William Shatner, Rainn Wilson, indie artists, costumes and general comic fan chaos, this is the place for you.
Seattle Times videographer Genevieve Alvarez will be at the con this weekend, but before the hordes descend, she caught up with Seattle-based webcomic creator Scott Kurtz of PvP to talk about digital comics, why they matter, and how they're changing the comic industry.
For all the ladies out there who wanted to be Wonder Woman, Lois Lane, or some combination of the two, Jennifer K. Stuller has one of the best jobs ever: studying superwomen in pop culture. She gave us a brief history of the fabulous women in comics, a primer on everyone from Wonder Woman to Buffy:
We talked to headliner William Shatner about 'Star Trek' and acting earlier this week. Other celebrities to keep an eye out for: Rainn Wilson (Dwight from "The Office"), James Gunn (of "Slither") James Marsters (Spike from "Buffy the Vampire Slayer"), and Brent Spiner (Data from "Star Trek: The Next Generation")
You can find out more from culturemob.com. and you can buy tickets and checkout the rest of the lineup here: www.emeraldcitycomicon.com/
