5 roadside pie stops in Western Washington

advertising

It’s that tasty time of year when road trips and ripe berries overlap. Here are five roadside spots that make delicious berry pies.

Lynden Dutch Bakery

Stop on the way to the Canadian border for a slice of whatever’s in season. On the menu recently: raspberry-rhubarb and Dutch apple (facebook.com/LyndenDutchBakery).

Copper Creek Restaurant

Look for the old-timey red-shingled storefront in Ashford, just before the entry to Mount Rainier National Park. House specialty: Blackberry pie (360-569-2799 or coppercreekinn.com/coppercreek/restaurant.html).

Peachtree Restaurant

Just off Interstate 5 in Vancouver, Wash., pie is served all day, including blueberry, cherry and marionberry (360-693-6736 or peachtreerestaurant.com).

Chimacum Cafe

Ten miles shy of Port Townsend in Jefferson County, look for the flowered neon sign. Wild blackberry pie tops the menu at this time of year (360-732-4631).

Big Y Cafe

Fresh pies are made daily at this Peshastin eatery, just east of Leavenworth in Chelan County. Recent choices: peach, apple and strawberry-rhubarb (509-548-5012 or bigycafe.com).
