Repeal Day celebrations

Wednesday is like Halloween for the cocktail geeks, who hit the town in 1930s garb to celebrate the 79th anniversary of Repeal Day — the day that 13-year Prohibition was lifted in 1933. Seattle bars joining the celebration include RN74, 1433 Fourth Ave.; Smith, 332 15th Ave. E.; and Knee High Stocking Co., 1356 E. Olive Way; they’ll feature enticements like pre-Prohibition drink menus or $5 drink specials.

The biggest bash takes place at Vessel, 624 Olive Way, where guys come dressed in Capone attire and ladies come all dolled up. Details: www.vesselseattle.com.

Another party of note: from 7:30-11:30 p.m. Wednesday at Fremont Abbey Arts Center, 4272 Fremont Ave. N., there’s a Repeal Day benefit for abbey arts programs that includes cocktails, live music, oysters from Taylor Shellfish and other food from Nomad Dinners. Tickets are $25-$40; fremontabbey.org.
